Turn Yourself Into a Red Swan

Today's Way Khool Site is: Red Swan

Are you a little short of cash these days? And do ya have old jewelry languishing in your jewelry box and yet you're not quite ready to drive to your local pawn shop?

If so, Red Swan may help you save gas and face for you can discreetly ship your jewelry to them, receive a fair appraisal, and then get a check from them in the mail. Simple! You can even sign up your friends, and receive more monies. Such a deal!

Here's how it works and what Red Swan writes on their website:

"Once you or your friends submit jewelry using the secure, postage-paid Safe-Pak, experienced appraisers will carefully assess the value of each item and promptly mail the owner a check. Our highly-trained appraisers pride themselves on providing accurate, fair assessments. Participants can track the status of a submission online or by phone thanks to the unique barcode system on each Safe-Pak. These barcodes also ensure you receive the appropriate commission for every referred sale.

If a participant is not absolutely satisfied with her payment, she may simply notify us at 1-888-309-SWAN and return the check so that it is postmarked within 10 days of the date on the check. The item(s) will then be returned to the participant free of charge. The fact is, nothing is more important than your satisfaction. We hope you and your network will fall in love with the Red Swan experience"

I saw this on Rachel Ray = I checked out the company prior to trying it. What a scam - I think they "used" people on the show and gave them WAY more than jewelry was worth to persuade others to do same. I sent in an engagement ring well over 1 carat, 14k gold and got a check for only $118.10. To return check to get item back - you go through hell to meet their timeframe. Posted 2 negative comments on Rachel Ray website and they were removed. I think Rachel Ray show is trying to not be associated with them anymore - how sad, Rachel probably has no idea what a scam it is.

I sent Red Swan a handfull of old gold and some silver and got nearly $400 back. Of course, it was no where near what those items sold for at retail, but it's foolish to believe that you'll get back what you initially paid (retail mark-up and all that). They should mention upfront that they don't take pearls, stones, etc., but other than that, they're pretty straightforward. And as for the return, they give you 10 days from the the check date to call and mail it back -- doesn't sound like "going through hell" to me. My cash paid for a week-long vacation to see friends and family!
